The History of Pelican's Restaurant

The first Pelican's Restaurant opened in Santa Barbara, California in the early 1970's as a seafood and steak dinner house. By the mid-1970's, several more stores had been built in California and also in Texas. In 1980 Pelican's placed a store in Midwest City, Oklahoma.


Pelican's Restaurant in Oklahoma has been operated by Jim Dolezel in one fashion or another since its inception. Jim worked for Pelican's International Corporation as a regional manager when the restaurant in Oklahoma was opened. In 1981 Jim moved his family to Midwest City to solely  run Pelican's. Then in 1990 he purchased the property and business. After five years of exceptional growth Tim Thelin was made a partner in the business.


"Our goal is to develop the Pelican's concept by offering only the finest quality products and services to our guests in a relaxing and casual atmosphere."

It is now 2014 and Pelican's is still going strong! We serve only the freshest seafood and perfectly-aged steaks that have been cooked to perfection.


We take pride in the quality of our food as we hand-cut our own steaks and our soups and sauces are homemade everyday to ensure freshness without the use of preservatives.


We can accommodate  any size party from 6 to 150. We can also cater up to 500 people!
